A Visionary Tourism Destination

Rajgir, a historically rich and scenic town nestled between the Vipalagiri and Vaibhagiri hills, was once the capital of Magadh Mahajanpad before Patliputra. Known then as Rajgrih – meaning "home of royalty" – it has long-standing ties with Lord Buddha and Buddhism.

Buddha spent many years here, delivering sermons, converting Emperor Bimbisar at Griddhakuta Hill, and receiving the gift of Venu Van (Bamboo Grove). The first Buddhist Council was held here, and numerous Hindu and Jain temples grace the region.

Today, Rajgir is also known for its medicinal hot springs, the Ropeway to Shanti Stupa, and attractions like Ghorakatora Lake, the Cyclopean Wall, and lush jungle trails. The Rajgir Wildlife Sanctuary – a remnant forest patch amidst five hills (Ratnagiri, Vipulgiri, Vaibhagiri, Songiri, and Udaygiri) – is home to mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians, offering essential ecological services to the region.
